Children's burial ground in Castletaylor South

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

No visible trace remains, yet local memory places child burials inside the cashel at Castletaylor South. The absence of markers does not erase the possibility that small bodies once lay beneath ordinary soil. Forgetting the function of a place is easier than remembering the vulnerability it held.
According to local information, the interior of the cashel (GA104-281----) may have been used as a children's burial ground (SMR file). No visible surface trace of one exists. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 24 November 2017

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
