What is recorded here
Graveslab in Castledermot, County Kildare, is a tapering granite slab 1.75 metres long, 0.30 to 0.66 metres wide and 0.18 metre thick, still unmarked and standing beside the road. It may have marked one buried body or an entire forgotten lineage, yet no name remains on its surface. The absence of carving does not diminish the claim being made: someone important enough to shape stone, and perhaps proud enough not to need words.
Graveslab. (dims. L 1.75m; Wth 0.30-0.66m; T 0.18m) Undecorated tapering granite slab. (Bradley et al. 1986, vol. 2, 103)
