The church in Castle Lower was originally built in the early 17th century, with a record of it being in good repair in 1693, and was later rebuilt as a Church of Ireland church in 1811. It is significant as a site of continuous religious use, with evidence of both early ecclesiastical activity and 19th-century reconstruction.
