What is recorded here

Lough Derg, County Galway: a castle in ruins, unclassified, its walls broken and its purpose withheld from public view. The absence of explanation does not diminish the place; it redirects attention to what remains visible. Stone, water and time have continued the work begun when the castle fell, shaping a boundary where human making ends and natural patience takes over.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
