Embanked enclosure is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Cartron (athlone South By., Rockhill Ed), County Roscommon, Ireland. It sits on a hilltop as a circular grass area defined by an earthen bank, with lazy-beds and quarries visible inside. Cashel stands about ninety metres to the west-southwest, while another rath lies one hundred and ten metres to the east.
On top of a hill. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 37m WNW-ESE; 35.8m NNE-SSW) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4.7-6.5m; int. H 0.55-0.8m; ext. H 1.1-1.55m), partly obscured by spoil. There is no visible fosse and the entrance cannot be identified. There are lazy-beds and some quarries in the interior. Cashel (RO045-177001-) is c. 90m to the WSW and rath (RO045-179----)is c. 110m to the E. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
