Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Carriganurra

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Carriganurra is a fairy fort, an earthen ringfort in County Kilkenny. The earth still stands in a circle, though no wall or roof remains to explain who built it or when. People may have lived inside, guarded food, or simply marked a boundary between fields. Others may have believed the circle belonged to fairies, and left it alone. Both ideas fit the shape. A ring of soil can be a home, a warning, or a puzzle depending on the person standing beside it.
