What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Carrick (athlone South By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a D-shaped grass-covered area measuring roughly twenty metres north-south and fifteen metres east-west on an undulating landscape. A scarp rises 0.6 metres along the southwest and north sides, while the northeast perimeter merges into a field wall running northwest to southeast. Another rath sits two hundred metres to the north-northwest, and no visible fosse or original entrance remains.
On an undulating landscape. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims c. 20m N-S; c. 15m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.6m) SW-N, but the perimeter is incorporated into a NW-SE field wall N-E. There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. The rath (RO048-011----) is c. 200m to the NNW. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
