Indicated

Man-made underground passage

What is recorded here

Indicated is a man-made underground passage inside a Clare rath, built with angles sharp enough to suggest purpose rather than accident. The main hollow stretches three metres east-west while a smaller stone-lined chamber drops one metre at its south edge, forming a shape that invites descent and discovery. People may have knelt there, hidden objects there, or listened for voices in the dark earth. The rath still stands around the opening, waiting for someone curious enough to look inside.
Situated inside the perimeter of a rath (CL026-017001-) at SSW. A rectangular hollow (3m E-W; 2.6m N-S; D 0.3-0.5m) with a rectangular stone-lined hollow (1.1m N-S; 1m E-W; D 1m) attached to its S edge. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 2 May 2017
