What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Carnakit, County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies the north-facing crest of a west-northwest to east-southeast ridge and contains a two-room house site plus a possible underground passage. Another rath lies about 150 metres to the east-southeast.
At the N-facing crest of a WNW-ESE ridge. D-shaped grass-covered area (dims 27.3m NNE-SSW; 27.4m WNW-ESE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 3.3m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.7m) N-E reduced to a scarp (H 0.6-0.8m) elsewhere, and a fosse (Wth of base 2-3.1m; D 0.1-0.8m) which is surrounded by field banks (Wth 2.2-2.7m; H 0.4-0.7m). The straight sides are at S and W. There is no identifiable original entrance, but there is a rectangular house site (RO021-042045-) (ext. dims 10m E-W; 3m N-S) of two rooms inside the perimeter at S, and a depression (dims 5.7m N-S; 2m E-W; D 0.6m) inside the bank at W with a spur to the E (dim. 2m E-W) at its S end which may be a Man-made underground passage (RO021-042025-).
