PLATFORM RATH in Carn

PLATFORM RATH

What is recorded here

One platform rath still stands in Carn, County Fermanagh. A tall circular fort on a ridge or hilltop, it watched the land below and showed that people valued visibility as much as defence. The name preserves that shape: a flat-topped ring of earth and stone, built to be seen before it was entered.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as PLATFORM RATH. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
