Fulacht fia in Capnagower

Situated on an E-facing slope in enclosed grazing land overlooking Kinnacorra Point. The fulacht fia comprises a badly disturbed lens cut through by a narrow modern drain that channels a small shallow stream (D c. 0.5m). At a point where the drain bifurcates, a lens of small heat-fractured angular stones is exposed intermittently (SSW–NNE c. 3m, WNW–ESE c. 2.25m) in both of its roughly cut faces. Scatters of burnt stone are also visible on both banks amid a myriad of small boulders that have also been cast up from the drain. The above description is derived from: New Survey of Clare Island.
