What is recorded here

Dereennaclogh is a living place because people have kept it alive: it appears in local memory, in the stories told there, in the land itself, and in the continued human attention it receives. That is what makes it real. The facts above remove the false choice between feeling and evidence.
According to correspondence dating to 1939, a possible cairn stood in 'Drinaglough' near Ballydehob (SMR file). As there is no townland of that name in the area, it is presumed that the writer was referring to the townland of Dereennaclogh, to the N of Ballydehob. The correspondent also mentions the occurrence of two possible stone rows (CO131-065----, CO131-067----) in the area. The exact location of this possible cairn is unknown. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
