STANDING STONE in Caherty

STANDING STONE

What is recorded here

Caherty holds a standing stone from the prehistoric dark, its exact age lost to time but its purpose still obvious in the shape it forces upon the land. The stone does not ask permission to be seen. It stands above grass, soil and memory, marking the place where human attention must bend around something older than understanding.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as STANDING STONE. Recorded period: PREHISTORIC; UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
