Childrens Burial Ground

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Childrens Burial Ground is a small, rectangular field in County Galway where children were laid to rest. It measures about 17 metres north to south and 13.5 metres east to west, bounded by a low bank now hidden under growth and rubble. Several rows of set stones still mark the graves beneath the grass, waiting for someone to walk among them and remember the little lives buried there.
In level pastureland. This subrectangular children's burial ground (17m N-S; 13.5m E-W) is defined by a low bank, which is surrounded by a modern field wall. The bank is obscured by undergrowth and rubble. The interior is very overgrown, however, several lines of set stones indicating graves are visible.
