What is recorded here

Gallán is a one-metre standing stone in Mid Cork bogland, tilted slightly on a SW-facing slope. It resisted mapping in 1842 and 1903, hiding in plain sight among heather and water. The stone may have marked a boundary, a burial, or a warning to careless travellers. Its endurance suggests human hands shaped the landscape long before surveys arrived.
