Burnt pit in Clashadunna East is a small oval hole hidden beneath the N25 Youghal Bypass, filled with charcoal, burnt stone and angular chippings. It may have roasted food or served some forgotten industrial purpose, but its true function has been lost. The pit is no longer visible, yet the heat and activity that formed it still belong to the place.

An isolated pit was discovered during the construction of the N25 Youghal Bypass and was partially excavated in 2001. The roughly oval pit (0.6m N-S; 0.42m E-W; D 0.09m) had no discernible corners and contained a fill of fine sandy silt which included charcoal, frequent burnt stone and broken angular chippings. The excavator concluded that this may have been a roasting pit or may have been used for some unknown industrial function.
