What is recorded here
Gateway, built 1815, comprising pair of unpainted piers with cut-stone capping, and random rubble stone boundary wall to perimeter of site. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Burnchurch House.
Standing in contrast to the elegant formal quality of the main house (12402406/KK-24-06) a gateway of modest architectural design aspirations makes a pleasing, if subtle visual statement in a rural setting.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
