Gallaun stands 3.43 metres tall inside Cromwell's Fort on the Iveragh Peninsula, proving that human ambition keeps returning to the same spot across millennia. The fort may have been built around the stone or simply dropped beside it, but either choice creates a strange layer where prehistoric patience meets later human urgency. A leaning slab now braces the base after Chatterton found the stone shaking in 1839, suggesting someone finally listened to the warning written in its wobble.
