On an island of dry land surrounded by bog with good views in all directions. A bullaun stone is located in the interior of the chancel of the medieval church (TS054-002002-). The bullaun stone consists of a triangular-shaped stone (dims. 0.42m x 0.38m x 0.18m) with one central basin (diam. 0.16m; D 0.08m). Probably dates to the early medieval period, often associated with Christian ritual or pilgrimage. Bullaun stones were traditionally used for anointing with holy water and may have had earlier prehistoric significance as ritual or ceremonial sites.
