What is recorded here

Brosna graveyard holds a 1624 headstone marked T.C.W.C, testifying to the area’s ancient reach across Limerick and Cork. That much is known. Whether the initials belong to a merchant, cleric, or outcast remains lost, but the distance those dead travelled suggests this was no ordinary village plot. It was a boundary marker for the living, a place where strangers became ancestors.

The precise location of a 17th century headstone in Brosna graveyard (KE032-008002-) has not been identified. Folklore collected from Brosna School recorded the following details; 'Brosna graveyard is one of the oldest in the locality. People were brought here from outlying districts in Limerick and Cork. One gravestone is marked T.C.W.C cut in the stone and dated 1624' (The Schools’ Collection, Volume 0449, Page 267; https://www.duchas.ie/en/cbes/4713225/4709234).
