What is recorded here

RATH in Bottier, County Down, is an ancient earthwork, not a modern invention. The local name still carries the shape of that old boundary, while the exact life inside it has faded from memory. A person may have walked its ridge, watched rain move across the land, or marked the edge of a field before written records appeared. The site preserves that much: a human hand shaped the earth, and the place kept the shape.
