Fairy fort in Boagh, County Cavan: a raised oval, about forty metres long, enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide shallow waterlogged ditch, with a break at the west that likely marks the entrance. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the ditch still holds rainwater and the bank rises like a forgotten chamber. If it was a human home, it was a large one; if it belongs to fairy story, the boundary is still drawn. Either way, the shape survives, and the name keeps the uncertainty alive.

Raised oval area (int. dims. 40.1m NW-SE; c.37m NE-SW) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank and a wide, shallow, partly waterlogged fosse.
