Mud and memory collide where Barnageera fields still hold flint shards dropped across millennia. People walked this soil from the Mesolithic to the Bronze Age, breaking stone and leaving behind fragments rather than finished tools. The land kept what human hands discarded, scattering sharp evidence of presence across ordinary ground.

A large quantity of flint debitage with a low density of retouched pieces, found during a survey of seven fields in the Barnageera area in 1990. Preliminary analysis of the lithic material collected indicates a human presence from the Mesolithic to the Bronze Age period (Guinan 1992, 4-8). As part of pre-development investigations a fieldwalking study was undertaken in this field which contains cairn DU005-017001- towards its eastern limit. There was a relatively low lithic count from this field with undiagnostic flint being recovered (Doyle, S. 2003, 9).
