Indicated is a circular stone fort hidden inside a blackthorn thicket on a wet Mayo rise, its steep scarp still standing between damp pasture and boggy hollows. The dense brambles block most of the interior, forcing anyone who wants to know the truth to push through piercing thorns and uncertain ground. That much is clear: the fort still exists, still resists easy entry, and still belongs to the landscape rather than to display.

In a thicket of blackthorn, located on a rise in an area of average to wettish pasture, intermixed with wet and boggy hollows. There is gently rising ground to SE, and ground falls away gently to WNW to an area of damp pasture. Circular platform (diam. 25-30m) defined by a stony scarp (0.9m at SW, 1.5m at NNW, 0.6m at N). The scarp retains a slight stony internal lip at NW, with stone protruding randomly from the external slope and is cut quite vertically; it is thickly ringed with hawthorn. The interior appears to be level, but except for the SE quadrant, is engulfed in impenetrable blackthorn and cannot be examined. A field wall on a WNW−ESE axis crosses the S edge of the rath.
