Killanin and Duignan recorded the passage in 1967, preserving what Costello had drawn decades before. It lies within the north-west quadrant of a Galway ringfort, an L-shaped hole cut through earth rather than dug by water. One chamber still opens, narrow enough to force a person to turn and creep. The second has closed or hidden itself, leaving only a gap in the roof lintels where its southwest turn can be imagined.

Within NW quadrant of a ringfort (GA016-006----). A plan of this Man-made underground passage drawn up by Costello (1902b, 110) suggests that it was roughly L-shaped in plan and consisted of at least two chambers. Access is now possible to only one. A stone-lined hollow (L 2m) leads to the chamber (L 3.9m, Wth 1.2m) which runs SE-NW. A possible creep is visible at NW end. A 2nd possible chamber is visible beyond this through a gap in the roof lintels; it appears to turn to SW. Another Man-made underground passage (GA016-006002-) lies c. 24m to NW.
