What is recorded here

Quarries have bitten into the west and south-east edges of the Ballytrasna ringfort, yet the southern ditch still curves through grassland like a forgotten breath. The eastern bank has vanished entirely, leaving the circle open to the sky and the memory of whatever lived inside. A small modern mound sits in the northern interior, perhaps marking a grave or perhaps dropping a stone into water to test depth. The fort is no longer a complete vessel, but its remaining curve still directs the eye around the missing part.

On a NE-facing slope in rolling grassland. Poorly preserved almost circular rath (E-W 35.5m, N-S 34m) defined by a bank and external fosse; the latter survives only from SE through S to SW. No visible surface trace of the bank survives at NE. Quarries encroach upon the monument at W and SE where a well is present. A field bank radiates from the monument at SW. A small circular earthen mound (D 3.5m) in N section of the interior appears modern.
