Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Ballyonan OR Doonaghboy

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Doonaghboy and Ballyonan both compete for the same name, but one earthwork remains visible while the other faded from local memory. That uncertainty is not a defect; it is the shape of the story. A ringfort is not a fairy tale, yet people often call unknown ancient building fancy because imagination is easier than history. In Clare the land keeps both truths at once: human hands built it, and memory has been inventing it ever since.
