Barnastick

Standing stone

What is recorded here

Barnastick is an upright stone in County Kilkenny, Ireland, marked on old maps and viewed from above. It stands alone in the countryside, waiting for people to remember why it was set there. Perhaps it marked a boundary, a burial place or a meeting point. Its name still lives, but its purpose has faded like footprints in rain.
An upright stone, possibly a standing stone identified on an aerial photograph (ASIAP (56) 2-3, August 1996). The stone is indicated on both the 1st and 2nd ed. OS 6-inch map as ‘Barnastick’. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 1 September 2015
