Settlement cluster in Ballynalynagh

Settlement cluster

What is recorded here

Ballynalynagh held three houses in its south-central fields when surveyed in 1701, with one already marked in 1656-8. They vanished without a trace, leaving no ruin or road behind. Whatever life moved through those rooms has gone quiet, remembered only by the line drawn on old paper.
This record refers to a cluster of three houses shown in the south-central part of Ballynalynagh townland on a 1701 ‘Trustees Survey’ estate map (NLI microfilm n. 645, p. 31). One house is marked on the 1656-8 Down Survey barony map. The exact location of the houses is unknown. Compiled by: Jane O'Shaughnessy Date of upload: 15 August 2019
