Rhododendron clearing in County Galway forestry stripped back decades of green to reveal two one-metre stones facing each other across a seventy-centimetre gap. They stand on the south bank of the Owenmore River, overlooking Ballynahinch Castle, aligned east-northwest to west-southwest like a doorway left open for someone returning from a long distance. What they marked, whether a boundary, a meeting place or a warning, has vanished with the people who set them.

In forestry on the S bank of the Owenmore River and overlooking Ballynahinch Castle (GA036-002----) to the NW. This pair of standing stones was revealed during recent rhododendron clearing. Both boulders are c. 1m high and c. 0.7m apart. They are orientated ENW-WSW. The monument was brought to our attention by local archaeologist Mr Michael Gibbons.
