Enclosure in Ballymacthomas is a ruined earthen ring on the eastern bank of a River Lee tributary, cut in half by a farm track and faded by marshy reclaimation. What remains measures forty metres across, with a seven-metre-wide bank still proud enough to mark the shape of a place people once drew around themselves. The missing southern half has vanished into pasture and water, leaving only a dish of earth beside the road, quiet about the hands that built it and the lives that stopped coming around it.

'Situated in a field on the immediate eastern side of a tributary of the River Lee. The portion of land on which these sites occur slopes gently westwards. The main features within the complex are earthen enclosures, small mounds, a linear earthwork and a possible barrow with portions of double banks remaining. All of these sites are partially denuded due to reclaimation, this field still being slightly marshy despite efforts to reclaim the land for the purposes of pasture......... the remains of a sub-circular enclosure which has now been virtually cut in half by an E-W running farm trackway, which also has a modern field boundary running along its southern extent. All traces of this enclosure have been obliterated in the field to the south of this track and fence. The remaining enclosure measures 40.0m E-W (this probably represents the true diameter of the enclosure ) by 29.0m N-S ( not the original dimensions as the part to the south has been removed ). The stone and earth bank has an average width of 7.00m and has an external height of 0.70m, and an internal height of 0.40m. The interior is featureless and has a slightly dished appearance.'
