What is recorded here
Mnemo records the Ballymacowen fort as a circular earthworks in pasture, not a hidden chamber or finished story. Arani wants to know whether the claim is complete, so she may judge what the district repository should preserve.
In pasture, on N-facing slope. Circular area (c. 26m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (H 2.1m), with cattle break to E. Interior raised on N side to compensate for hillslope.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
