A house is shown on the Down Survey (1655-6) barony map approximately in the location of the present Ballykinealy House (Healy 1988, 99). This house is of 18th/19th-century appearance and there is no local tradition of it being any older. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
