Three stones still stand in a rough circle around a low mound near Ballycumber church, though the exact spot has slipped from local memory. Thomas Stanley wrote of them in 1870, seeing a small burial place marked by stones rather than forgotten beneath soil. They may have helped people remember a dead person, orient a ritual or belong to an older landscape before the church gave the area its present shape.

Three standing stones (OF007-053001-) encircling a mound (JRSAI 1870, 28), unlocated within the townland of Ballycumber. Described by Thomas Stanley in 1870 as 'Three such stones occupy the centre of a 'foradh' near the island or Ballycumber church. They form a kind of triangle or it might have been a circle; within them a small mound rises to a height of two or three feet' (JRSAI 1870, 28).
