What is recorded here

One of three decorated stones in Ballinvally, County Meath, emerged when a ringfort was removed, yet no description survives to say what its marks portrayed. The stone was reburied at the location, returning the visible image to soil and silence. Whatever the marks recorded, they joined the other two stones in leaving behind a gap where memory should have stood.
