Graveslab in Ballintober is a rectangular stone, 1.5m high and 0.88m wide, bearing a raised cross and the inscription CC 1634, built into a tomb on a south-facing slope within Ballintober church. It marks a life ended in 1634, its letters worn smooth by centuries of rain and reverence. The chamber above may still hold bones, or perhaps only dust and time. Either way, the slab remains a threshold between the living and the forgotten.
