What is recorded here

Graveslab in Ballintober marks the death of John Rorke in 1609, cutting through four centuries of forgotten breath and circumstance. The stone sits low on a south-facing slope inside the church, catching late light while the rest of the building cools. John Rorke may have been a trader, a soldier, a priest or a local man caught up in events now lost. His name still stands out in relief, refusing to dissolve into the crowd of dead men around him.
