Costello drew four chambers in 1902, but time has swallowed two, leaving only long narrow rooms beneath the western bank of the Galway ringfort. They still point northwest and southeast like forgotten arrows, yet the creeps between them have closed to sediment and darkness. What remains is a broken breath of the original passage, preserving the shape of human labour while deleting the life that moved through it.

Within W half of a ringfort (GA057-028----). A plan of this Man-made underground passage drawn up by Costello (1902b, 114-15) indicates that it consists of four chambers linked by three creeps. Killanin and Duignan (1967, 449) refer to three chambers. Only two are now evident. Access to both is via a gap in the roof. The 1st chamber (L 11.65m, Wth c. 1.9m), which lies inside W limits of the bank of the ringfort, runs NNW-SSE and a creep is visible at NNW end. The 2nd chamber (L c. 10.4m) lies just NNW of the centre. It also runs NNW-SSE and a creep extends off N end of SSW wall. The SSE end, beyond the gap, is almost completely filled in.
