Stone Graves marks two buried cist graves beside Emlygrennan Church in County Limerick. They disappeared from sight and ordinary maps, yet the name remained like a shadow behind the graveyard wall. Perhaps people still dropped flowers there, knowing death had been hidden beneath clean pasture since before the church rose.
In pasture, immediately N of Emlygrennan Church (LI048-015001-) which stood in the centre of a rectangular shaped graveyard (LI048-015002-). Not marked on 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map or the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch. Annotated ‘Stone Graves’ on the Cassini ed. OSi 6-inch map. No surface remains visible on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 or on Google Earth orthoimages. The annotation 'Stone Graves' may refer to the location of two stone lined burial or cist burials immediately N of boundary wall of Emlygrennan graveyard (LI048-015002-).
