Five storeys of Fitzpatrick stone still rise at Ballagharahin, their dressed quoins catching light exactly as they did when the family first claimed the land. The tower leans slightly against the sky, its base batter a quiet reminder that gravity and time negotiate rather than break. Earthworks swirl to the southwest where a bawn may have lived, suggesting kitchens, yards and ordinary noise once filled the space now owned by grass and memory.

Built by the Fitzpatrick family, Ballagh Castle dates to the late medieval period, likely 15th or 16th century. It is remembered as a multi-storey tower house with architectural features indicative of Gaelic lordship in the region.
