Grave Yard rises on a natural hillock in County Meath, Ireland, where a D-shaped mound of masonry walls still marks the edge of an old church. The straight side faces northwest, and the rounded part stretches thirty-three metres toward the southeast, high enough to keep rain away from the buried remains. Dopping's Visitation recorded the enclosure during 1682-5, proving the place served the living before it served the dead. The 1998 restoration did not invent the shape; it revealed the shape already waiting beneath soil and time.

Situated on a natural hillock. The foundations of a rectangular structure (ME017-014----) are in a D-shaped raised graveyard (dims c. 33m NE-SW; c. 22m NW-SE; H 1.3-2m) defined by masonry walls and with the straight side at NW. According to Dopping's Visitation (1682-5) the church was enclosed at that time (Ellison 1973, 8, 9). The graveyard was restored in 1998. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 12 December, 2014
