A grass-covered bank still marks a twenty-four-metre enclosure in Aughavinna, clutching the hilly pasture while high hills watch every approach. It resists easy belief because maps have called it a barrow or ringfort, yet the visible shape preserves something deliberately built. Perhaps people lived there, excluded rain or simply claimed a small corner of the wide landscape. The land has kept that boundary long after the hands which drew it disappeared.
