Castle, unclassified in Athy,townparks (athy Rural Ed) (detached Portion),townparks (athy West Urban Ed) stood in County Kildare, Ireland. William Scryvener received custody of the castle of Athy in 1442, while the Michael family held lordship there from the Anglo-Norman settlement. The exact castle location remains unrecorded, but Athy's medieval institutions and local power make that absence a living gap rather than a dead end.

The Anglo-Norman settlement at Athy appears to date from at least the mid 13th-century when two priories (Dominican: KD035-022004- and Fratres Cruciferi: KD035-022006-) and a church (St. Michael’s: KD035-022014-) are known to have been in existence. The Michael family, lords of the barony of Reban since the conquest, were also the Lords of Athy. An early castle was also likely to have existed – the sergeant of the ‘ward of Athy’ is mentioned in 1297 – although its precise location is not recorded. The earliest documentary evidence for a castle at Athy prior to the 16th-century occurs in 1442 when William Scryvener was granted custody of the castle of Athy (Bradley at al. 1986, vol. 1, 44).
