Graveslab in Athy marks the buried body of Capt. Robert Pearson beneath St. Michael's Church in County Kildare. Its exact spot has slipped from local memory, but the stone itself still belongs to the graveyard. A captain may have commanded soldiers, ships or men in a forgotten war, yet death levelled that rank into dirt. The missing marker does not erase him; it hands his story over to imagination and time.

According to Bradley et al. (1986a, vol. 1, 54), Carroll mentions the existence of a 17th-century graveslab of Capt. Robert Pearson in the graveyard (KD035-022015-) at St. Michael's Church (KD035-022014-). The precise location of this monument is unknown.
