What is recorded here

Half a metre of stone, ninety centimetres wide, the Fitzgerald arms still standing out in relief though no one remembers where the plaque first belonged. It sits west of the old doorway on the south wall of The White Castle in Athy, while a memorial stone faces it from the other side. The two markers bracket the entrance like forgotten guards, preserving a claim and a grief without explaining which room, hall or house gave them life.

Affixed to the S wall, and to the W of the original doorway of The White Castle (KD035-022010-). A rectangular stone (H 0.50m; Wth 0.90m) bearing the arms of the Fitzgeralds, carved in relief. Its original location is unknown. There is a memorial stone (KD035-022023-) on the other side of the doorway.
