What is recorded here
Walled garden, extant 1903, on a rectangular plan with creeper- or ivy-covered boundary wall to perimeter having overgrown coping; red brick English Garden Wall surface finish to courtyard elevations. Now disused. Set in grounds shared with Ardcandrisk House.
A walled garden not only surviving as an interesting relic of the Ardcandrisk House estate following the partial demolition of the eponymous country house (see 15703718), 'the elegant villa of the Honouarble Mrs. Deane Morgan [Elizabeth Geraldine Deane Morgan (1831-1920)]' (Lacy 1863, 466), but also clearly illustrating the continued development or "improvement" of the estate in the later nineteenth century.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
