A double-fenced rath stood inside McCarthy's farm during the 1940s, yet no one has successfully traced its exact position since. Children may have danced around its earthworks while adults avoided the site, giving the fort its fairy name through fear rather than sight. The ringfort escaped modern development simply because everyone forgot which field contained it.
A rath, surrounded by a 'double fence', was recorded in McCarthy's farm in the 1940s (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). It has not been precisely located.
