What is recorded here
Towards the top of the W-facing slope of a NW-SE drumlin ridge at its NW end with a SW-NE section of the River Shannon c. 150m to the NW. Circular grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 27m N-S; 26.5m E-W) defined by an eroded and overgrown earthen bank (Wth 3-5m; int. H 0.4-0.55m; ext. H 0.8-1m) NE-S-SW and a scarp (H 0.8m) elsewhere, with an outer fosse (Wth of top 3-4.5m; D 0.1-0.3m) N-E-S. The fosse is continued by a band of wet ground (Wth 2-3m) SW-NW, and the perimeter is slightly truncated by a field drain at N. There is no visible entrance. The inner bank of the Doon of Drumsna linear earthwork (RO011-058----) is c. 50m to the NE, but excavation in the vicinity outside (97E0347; 99E0029) did not produce any related material (Timoney 1998b; Higgins 2000). Rath (RO011-060----) is c. 200m to the ESE.
