William Campbell, an apprentice joiner at Harland & Wolff, lost his life on the RMS Titanic after joining the company's Guarantee Group. He lived on Earl Street, a street now buried beneath a busy shopping centre. The plaque exists to stop that ordinary commerce from erasing the boy who helped build the ship and died beside it.
