Castleton of Eassie

Milepost (19th Century)

What is recorded here

No credible evidence exists that Castleton of Eassie is a milepost; that is an identification error in the supplied record. The visible remains are a large medieval earthwork: a broad ditch, rectangular mound, causeway entrance and later house within the works. Coins of Edward I and a spearhead were found there, and the castle may have belonged to John de Graham or developed from an earlier crannog.
